Sookie finally realized that she would never be able to do things with Bill in the daylight. She didn't want to know where his "night spot" was, and she had found out about the death of her uncle and knew Bill had it done. She ended things with Bill.
04/27/11
Sookie told Bill about her Uncle Bartlett and why she hated him so much. He had molested her when she was very young, and her mom wouldn't believe her.
04/27/11
Sookie went back to Bill's. The construction workers had done a marvelous job in such a short amount of time, and Sookie got a tour of the place. Her and Bill shared the night together again.
04/27/11
Everyone at Merlotte's found out that Sookie and Bill had slept together and that they were dating. Sam was furious, and showed everyone the marks on Sookie's neck without her permission. The rude vampires Sookie had met a few nights before showed up the same night at the bar. They caused a scene while she was waiting to leave work, so she left a little early. Bill had disowned his fellow vampires that night in front of almost the whole town to protect Sookie.
04/27/11
Jason was being questioned by the cops again and again for the death of the first girl, Maudette. Since he had been "dating" both of the girls that were now dead, he was a suspect.
04/27/11
Sookie stayed out of work for 3 days after the death of her grandmother. She got the house, now her's, cleaned out and gave most of Gran's clothes to the needy. She ended up moving her room to Gran's. On the first night of having her new room, Bill came over while Sookie was in her nightgown. It was the first night in her new room, and it was her first night ever having sex with Bill. He was her first ever.
04/27/11
The only living member of the family that remained was Gran's brother, Sookie's uncle, Uncle Bartlett. Sookie hated him for some reason, so when he was to be informed about Gran, she had Jason call him.
04/27/11
It turns out Gran's murderer had been trying to get Sookie, not Gran, but had run into Gran when Sookie was no where to be found. Everyone in the town and other towns came to Gran's funeral. Sookie's brother, Jason, slapped Sookie and said it wasn't fair b/c of his disappointment when he found out that Gran had left the house to Sookie in her will.
04/27/11
When Sookie got back from the meeting and coffee outing with Sam, she felt something was wrong in her grandmother's house. When she walked inside, she searched all the rooms and found her grandmother dead on the kitchen floor. Shortly after, Bill showed up, changed from his suit into casual wear, to comfort Sookie. He did not kill her grandmother, but apparently when he left to change clothes is when the murderer came.
04/27/11
Sam confessed to Sookie that he had always had feelings for her, although she already knew, but she refused him and told him he should have been upfront with her before she got feelings for Bill. She told him he was just too late, and Sam told her she had no future with Bill. This was true, but Sookie held her ground. She had feelings for him either way.
04/27/11
On the way home from the bar, Sookie and Bill kissed. It was extraordinary (from what the book says) but when Sookie got home, she shut the door in Bill's face. Probably b/c she was slightly embarassed? Sam asked Sookie to go to the Descendants' meeting with him and get coffee afterwards. She did.
04/27/11
Sookie held back from showing any emotion to the detective for a long while, but after he thought of her and her brother being romantic, she broke at work and poured his drink on him. When Sookie went to Fangtasia, some of the other vampires found out about her psychic abilities b/c someone had found a girl dead in the bathroom, and there was about to be a police raid so Sookie and Bill left with some others to save themselves from being arrested.
04/27/11
Sam knew of Sookie's "disability" to read minds, and has learned how to shut her out of his mind. She found out while checking on Dawn. Also, Andy, a detective, acted like he knew what her disability was as well, and he started going to her workplace and thinking of horrible sexual things, and what have you, to try to make her show that she really was a mind-reader.
04/27/11
Sookie meets more vampires. They aren't nearly as cool as Bill. They were very rude and scary. Sookie asked Bill to take her to the infamous bar, Fangtasia, to ask questions about the new death of the girl, Dawn. She gets a few answers but nothing too explanatory.
04/27/11
Sookie gets some carpenters for Bill. Her boss, Sam, asks her to check on a girl who missed work a couple days in a row without calling. Sookie goes to check on her and finds her dead, the same way the 2 girls before had died.

Bill explains to Sookie that he is wanting to stay in the area. His house is in bad shape, but he's been searching for decades to find somewhere he liked. He was happy in Louisiana. He was happy where he was.

Bill told Sookie about the things he could do, like his glamor. It was a way of seducing people and making them the vampire's prey. He levitated in front of her, and she explained that she was not effected by his glamor and that she could see his glow. He found that uncommon.
04/21/11
Sookie and Bill talked for a long while in the woods by Gran's house. She told him about her past and how her "disability" of being able to hear people's thoughts hindered her school work, etc. He tells her she's got a gift, but she doesn't believe it's a gift at all. She explained how her parents had died as well.

The vampire made it look like the Rat couples' house was hit by a tornado. He ended up meeting with Gran and talked about all the things he'd seen and when he was born. This was of course at night. They talked about the war as well. Bill took a walk with Sookie, and her Gran didn't mind at all. She liked the vampire.
04/21/11
Sookie went to work and waited to see her vampire again. He finally showed up one night and was to meet her outside the employee door after Sookie got off. At closing time, she could not find him anywhere, but she then got jumped by the Rat couple. They nearly killed her, but the vampire killed them.
04/21/11
A girl named Maudette got killed mysteriously right across the apartments from Sookie's brother, Jason. He was a lady's man and was with one of the many girls he'd bedded that night. Sookie talked to her grandmother about the vampire and her grandmother was thrilled. She liked new things just as much as Sookie. She wanted Sookie to ask the vampire to talk with her about how old he was and what he'd seen.
04/20/11
Sookie and Bill talked after her rescuing him. He offered her his blood to sell or drink, but she wouldn't take it. Even though the blood was the most popular drug of choice for the past 2 years, she didn't want anything from him but to touch his skin again. She thought of their encounter as a good one. Rare. "Food for thought."
04/20/11
Sookie decides to help Bill. She gets in her first real fight ever with the Rat couple to make sure they let Bill go after they were already trying to drain him. Her and Bill almost got hit with the Rat couple's car as they were leaving in a hurry. They had had the vampire tied down with silver chains, so Sookie let him loose. She had saved him.

Several people are still tensed up from the earthquake, especially with intermitten earthquakes happening in northeastern Japan. Three riding clubs were "submerged in the tsunami" with 4 horses reported dead and at least 18 missing.

"What Comes First? Depression in Teens or Emo Music?"
According to new research, more teens are less depressed by reading than by listening to music on a regular basis. Researchers didn't look that much into cause and effect, but depression could possibly be caused somewhat by emo music. Although, not always. It could just be a way for teens to escape from and cope with everyday stresses. Reading is less passive than watching tv or listening to music. Teens have to engage their minds rather than just listening to someone else sing something.

I read the practice tests 7 and 8. The article on test 8 about mutts was a persuasive article, and it almost makes me want to adopt a puppy! It would be healthier and I very well COULD be saving the life of a cute puppy, along with gaining a friend! :)

I read chapter 8 in my Music Appreciation book. We are now discussing the different types of Jazz music, such as Cool Jazz. It's interesting because there are songs from New Orleans in the book, and I've been there before so I could relate. It's very interesting learning things about places I've been or want to go, especially the music. :)

I read the back of the menu at Taco Mac. It had a short story on the origin of the resturant. The guys who opened the place were from Buffalo, NY, and they wanted to bring northern food to the south, such as their buffalo wings. They were on their way to Florida when they stopped in Atlanta and decided to stay to open the resturant. Once they found a small building to work with, they had the chance to either renovate the kitchen or change the name of the building. "The kitchen won." They kept the Mexican-Irish sounding name "Taco Mac," and to this day it is still best known for it's wings and very large selection of beer.
I ate there. It was delicious. :) And yes, they had over 300 types of beer.

"Dark Bargain of the Global Economy" - Charles Fishman
This talks about the companies, such as Wal-Mart, selling products that have been made by children. The children were beaten if they did not meet their quotas, and they were only paid a very small amount of money to do the work that should never have been given to them. You know it's a sad world when people can't hire people for at least minimum wage to do work and when they have children do the jobs they shouldn't have to do along with beating them if they get something wrong. It's a very cruel world.
Summer comes and pears ripen
Plump, juicy yellow-reds hanging
on low branches;
Behind rusty old chicken wire,
Jumbles of forest-green cucumber logs play
hide-n-seek beneath their tangled vines.
Sweet, clear notes from a familiar violin float
From an open upstairs window
into the street below;
I daydream of exhilarating heights attained only by a swing,
Dirty, beat-up knees, mischievous grins.
\Reaching out, I carefully pluck a single pear;
Its juices dribble down my chin as I
sink my teeth into the tender smooth skin.

I hope to gain a lot from this class. I'm hoping to be able to understand passages better and pass this class!!!
I'm living on my mom's property at the time. I have my own place on her land, and things at home are good.
My financial situation is not good right now, but I have an interview for a job today, and once I start working I will be a lot more stable.
Part of my family is good, the other part not so much. My little girl is amazing and always has something cute to say or do.
My dating situation is just fine. I'm just concentrating on school and a job right now, and I hope to get a degree in something sooner than later!
I'm still undecided, but the criminal justice program seems interesting, and I'm thinking of doing something in that field. Taking it one small step at a time is going to have to be acceptable. I'm excited for mine and my daughter's futures.
Striving on unreality Its what my body feels Now if you want to join me Then come along and see Love and peace and loyalty My goodness gracious royalties It's what the family needs. Come on, come on, come along and see There's everything for everyone So come along and see Christmas comes but once a year Don't be shy nor feared Come on, come on, come along and see There's everything for everyone Just come along and see. There's love and peace and loyalty Presented by our royalty Facing up reality So come along and see!
People are so persistent on focusing on things that are unreal. It's a way to imagine more peaceful things for themselves and others around them if they just ignore reality rather than face it. In reality there is everything for everyone, and once a person has accepted that and works towards it then he or she can establish these ideas and gain experience and joy from his or her surroundings in everyday life. SO come along and see!
Who has seen the wind?
Neither I nor you;
But when the leaves hang trembling
The wind is passing through.
Who has seen the wind?
Neither you nor I;
But when the trees bow down their heads
The wind is passing by.
This poem is adorable. It's simple and easily understood by children which is great because I know my daughter would love it, and she will also get to see 'the wind' for what it is and still by just a simple explanation. Also, she enjoys poetry just as much as I do, and I think it's just a great experience for her along with myself. :)
01/23/11 Communication: Principles for a Lifetimeby Steven A. Beebe, Susan J. Beebe, and Diana K. Ivy Chapter 1
This chapter talks about how important it is to be able to communicate well. Communication is inescapable, irreversible, complicated, emphasized on content and relationships, and is governed by rules. You must be aware of communication with others AND yourself, use and interpret verbal messages and nonverbal messages effectively because words are very powerful. They can make and break relationships! Also, you must listen and respond effectively and appropriately adapt messages to others to enhance both understanding and empathy. The chapter reflects on interpersonal comm, small group comm, and presentational comm as being a very important thing to understand and to be able to include oneself in. I hope to get a lot more understanding of different ways to communicate through this class and book.

The World of Music by David Willoughby Chapter 1
This chapter is the introduction to the world of music. The chapter talks about music being a global phenomenon, the ethnic diversities in our culture and why it's important, cultural characteristics of the U.S., whether music labels are helpful or whether they hinder us, what it means to be an "artist", how music can be a business along with being an art, and how people from all over the world can participate in the arts [of our community]. I like how a lot of our music today is based on that of Western-European music. I like the different ethnic diversities, and they are important because they help us to understand not only ourselves but others around us. America has a lot of music related to European music, along with jazz, blues, and rock, but the labels are not as necessary as they are made out to be. There are so many overlapping styles of music that it is nearly impossible to label a certain song to be just ONE genre. I like all types of music, and I look forward to learning more about it in the following chapters. (I just wish they weren't so long. Haha)
I feel that kamishibai was and is a very important art to keep around. It is a great way for some people to express themselves in many different ways, whether it be by a t.v. show, a comicbook, anime, or just a hand-made work of art for that particular person. The idea of using kamishibai to sell candy in the 1920's was interesting to me because it was able to be entertainment for the devastated neighborhoods and bombshelters. It being associated with poverty and backwardness was understandable, but I also disagree in some aspects because of the fact that some people may just LIKE to create images for others to enjoy. I'm glad it's now found at festivals even today. It's a very interesting thing for me especially since I enjoy art in itself.
Beautiful Poem! Thanks for the great posting. (anne)
In the hues of something
from Picasso's Rose Period,
clay tile roofs stretch into the horizon
and fade into farms.
Contrasted against the
nickel-stained leaves of olive trees,
the town looks dyed by the sun
in the color of dryness.
Dog-eared and drowsy,
a village sits quietly in the valley,
waiting to house a fairy tale.
If this were a Disney movie,
a pink-cheeked heroine
would be singing from a window.
I want to fall asleep here,
in the smell of hot weather
and the shade of twisted tree limbs,
with the hope that slumber will
help me dream the view into immortality.

"Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars: Tiny Desk Concert"This blog talks about the fun needed for the 'weekend mood' with music. Something to get your "blood pumping." The band's story was well known from when they met in refugee camps and formed the band to spread joy. After ten years, two albums, and an award-winning documentary, the 8 members of the band are still going strong. Their music makes Friday night a definite Friday night.

I read Snow White to Jaeli. I remember the story being a lot nicer when I was young, but it seems to have gotten a lot more harsh when I was reading it to my daughter. Haha.19 entries 3/15/2010

I read the practice tests 7 and 8. The article on test 8 about mutts was a persuasive article, and it almost makes me want to adopt a puppy! It would be healthier and I very well COULD be saving the life of a cute puppy, along with gaining a friend! :)03/03/11
"The kitchen won." They kept the Mexican-Irish sounding name "Taco Mac," and to this day it is still best known for it's wings and very large selection of beer.I ate there. It was delicious. :) And yes, they had over 300 types of beer.

"The Sources of Globalization" - Robert J. Brym and John LieThis talks about the importance of technology, politics, and economics with globalization. Economics is the most important factor of all, but none of the three could work without the others.

"Dark Bargain of the Global Economy" - Charles FishmanThis talks about the companies, such as Wal-Mart, selling products that have been made by children. It's a very cruel world.

by Kelly Ann Janssen
Summer comes and pears ripenPlump, juicy yellow-reds hanging
on low branches;
Behind rusty old chicken wire,
Jumbles of forest-green cucumber logs play
hide-n-seek beneath their tangled vines.
Sweet, clear notes from a familiar violin float
From an open upstairs window
into the street below;
I daydream of exhilarating heights attained only by a swing,
Dirty, beat-up knees, mischievous grins.
\Reaching out, I carefully pluck a single pear;
Its juices dribble down my chin as I
sink my teeth into the tender smooth skin.

by Larry Tucker
As free as the Light
And the voice of the Wind
The Gift is forever our faithful friend
The Truth
As free as a word into our ear
And our liberator out of anxiety and fear
The Truth
As free as a song under rainbow skies
And exhilarating as the new day sunrise
The Truth
The Gift rescued us beyond our sin
And became our Peace established with in
The Truth
The Gift will stay and make us stand
Forever to rule throughout our land
The Truth
The Gift is love
The Gift is light
The Gift is life
The Gift is right
The Truth eternal which governs the night
Unveiled+
This one speaks for itself. :)

Postcard:I hope to gain a lot from this class.
I'm excited for mine and my daughter's futures.

http://www.poetry.com/poems/come-along-and-see/111994/Come Along And See
by B. M. Coldwell
Striving on unrealityIts what my body feels
Now if you want to join me
Then come along and see
Love and peace and loyalty
My goodness gracious royalties
It's what the family needs.
Come on, come on, come along and see
There's everything for everyone
So come along and see
Christmas comes but once a year
Don't be shy nor feared
Come on, come on, come along and see
There's everything for everyone
Just come along and see.
There's love and peace and loyalty
Presented by our royalty
Facing up reality
So come along and see!
Wise and wonderful!

Who Has Seen the Wind?
by Christina Rossetti
Who has seen the wind?Neither I nor you;
But when the leaves hang trembling
The wind is passing through.
Who has seen the wind?
Neither you nor I;
But when the trees bow down their heads
The wind is passing by.
This poem is adorable. It's simple and easily understood by children which is great because I know my daughter would love it, and she will also get to see 'the wind' for what it is and still by just a simple explanation. Also, she enjoys poetry just as much as I do, and I think it's just a great experience for her along with myself. :)

Communication: Principles for a Lifetimeby Steven A.

The World of Music by David Willoughby Chapter 1This chapter is the introduction to the world of music. Haha)

http://www.kamishibai.com/history.html
(anne)

Looking Down from La Rocca
by Lauren Jett Mancini
In the hues of somethingfrom Picasso's Rose Period,
clay tile roofs stretch into the horizon
and fade into farms.
Contrasted against the
nickel-stained leaves of olive trees,
the town looks dyed by the sun
in the color of dryness.
Dog-eared and drowsy,
a village sits quietly in the valley,
waiting to house a fairy tale.
If this were a Disney movie,
a pink-cheeked heroine
would be singing from a window.
I want to fall asleep here,
in the smell of hot weather
and the shade of twisted tree limbs,
with the hope that slumber will
help me dream the view into immortality.
